SensUI

This project aimed to create a new product from scratch, using the mistakes and successes of a previous version as a basis. It is a product focused on presenting the data collected by smart buildings and generating reports from time to time in order to communicate to its stakeholders what is happening in the buildings.

Scope: Create new product to access informations
Role in team: Visual ID, concept, key metrics
Duration: One semester
Tools: Figma, Miro, Heap Analytics

CONTEXT

When you are an owner of multiple buildings with sensors, you probably would like to know everything that is going on within your buildings as: how many people are using it, air quality at different spaces, temperature and other stuff. That's why this product exists.

// PROBLEM

We identified that nowadays building owners have difficulties and lack informations when they need to make changes on their campuses

// SOLUTION

To try to solve that, we decided to create a new dashboard product that could bring them all kind of information they needed about their buildings like: sensors, light, temperature, occupancy.

// QUESTION

How can we provide all that data without making it too much complex for our customers to use our product and not be mislead by much noise?

RESEARCH

We started by taking a look on every competitor's product in order to understand what were their mistakes and what they were doing correctly. After that, we refined it and began taking a look at all the sensors that were within the buildings so that we could use all the data at its full potential.

IDEATION

Once we had the data analyzed and structured, we sketched different initial options for the main navigation, and then the pages that would be led by the navigator. After the menu was defined, we started making some wireframes.

VISUAL LANGUAGE

The visual language was a bit challenging, because the client had a brandbook with very few options to choose for the color palette, but it worked out at the end by just using both blue and green from the logo to be the highlights on the dashboards, and to try to make it a little easier to see data I used some tones of white and grey, just to make it as sober as we could.

CONCLUSIONS

This project was a challenge from the beggining, but at the end I think we achieved all the targets we had. With a short deadline of just 6 months for a product from scratch, we were able to deliver the client a first version in just 5 months. On top of that, we managed to talk to a few people from the company and the feedbacks were pretty great with people saying that it would be next big thing on Smart Buildings industry.

So, at the end of it, we delivered a great solution for building owners that is very easy to use and with a great look and feel.
